El Alto architectural tour

After picking you up from your hotel, we will go to the city to El Alto. The first point of visit will be the architect's house, where we can still see the evolution of the houses in the city of El Alto and the striking design of this house; for its time was very rare and controversial. The second point is the Antonio Paredes Candía Museum, there you can see images and photographs of what the city was like over 30 years ago. Then we’ll head to the viewpoint of Alpacoma, from where the view is incredible as it has a panoramic view of both the city of El Alto and the city of La Paz, and you can also see the landscape of the Cordillera Real.


To see the activity that moves the economy of the city we will go to the zone Villa Bolivar D, where you see how the influx of exportations to China influences the construction of their houses, in addition you can see some cholets houses. Later on, a cholet house is visited, in which you can see the luxury that these houses have not only on the exterior but also in the interior. In this houses each corner has a detail and everything is illuminated and that’s why one of these houses easily cost more than 2 million US dollars.


Finally, we’ll headed to the Wipala condominium where it can appreciate the largest murals in the country that are found in the facades of these houses, each with two iconographies of Aymara culture, painted by a renowned painter of the country, Mamani Mamani. The tour ends by returning to Bolivia Avenue, a place where you can appreciate more cholet houses or house of El Alto’s architecture, to reach the starting point in the Plaza Juana Azurduy.
