We’ll begin this adventure in the city of La Paz at 7:00 am. After picking you up from the hotel we will go to the Rinconada, en route passing through El Alto city and then towards the plateau in a bus trip that will take us about 2 hours, where we will begin to appreciate the Andean landscape and the Cordillera Real.
Once we get to La Rinconada located at 4500 masl at the foot of the mountain Condoriri, we must prepare for the trek. We’ll climb slowly up to the 4650 meters where the Laguna Chiar Khota is (at 11:00 am approx). Once we are there we’ll take a comforting rest while we enjoy a delicious lunch watching beautiful snowcapped mountains around us and the crystalline lagoon.
When finishing our lunch, we’ll continue walking upwards until reaching the 5000 masl (2:30 hours walk) where the Austria passage is located and then the Austria peak, we will do a brief stop on the ridge that leads to the summit. The views from the top are spectacular, and from here we’ll be able to observe the snowy Condoriri, Lake Titicaca and Huayna Potosi.
After enjoying the wonderful view, we’ll return to the lake for a break and it will be time to return to the city, arriving at La Paz around 8:00pm.
